Joseph A. Fried
Joe grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He received his undergraduate education at Oglethorpe University while working full time as a police officer in metropolitan Atlanta. While on duty serving the public, Joe was witness to the aftermath of countless tractor-trailer accidents often driven by reckless truck drivers with no regard for public safety. The loss of life or life changing injuries were devastating, and the trucking companies had well-paid legal teams who could fly in on short notice to hide evidence or mitigate damages so the injured family would not be compensated adequately.
Joe found his calling in life and went to law school. Years later he would be recognized as a preeminent lawyer, educator, public advocate and author on trucking litigation.
He was accepted into law school at The University of Georgia and, after graduating, served as a law clerk to the Honorable B. Avant Edenfield, Chief U.S. District Judge for the Southern District of Georgia. In 1994, Joe entered private practice honing his skills that would be used later on behalf of families throughout the United States. Also in 1994, he was appointed as a part-time Magistrate Judge in Fulton County, a position he continues to hold today. At the time of his appointment, he was the youngest judge to ever have been appointed in Fulton County, Georgia.
Joe brings to his cases an in-depth knowledge of physics, engineering, forensics, dynamics, biomechanics, human factors and accident reconstruction. This knowledge has proven crucial when investigating cases, examining opposing expert witnesses (cross-examination during trial) and in devising innovative visual aids for trial to help his clients win their case. He is known for thinking outside the box when it comes to case strategy, development and presentation and his work is sought after by other attorneys across the country.
Joe is on the faculty of the prestigious Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College in Dubois, Wyoming, through which he continues to help develop and mentor lawyers from around the country on innovative and cutting edge case development and trial presentation techniques. He is also a frequent lecturer at 360 Advocacy, training other lawyers to thoroughly investigate their cases, and to gain a deep understanding of how their client’s life has changed, including how to properly recover on their behalf for life care planning.
Joe’s talents as a lawyer helped him to quickly develop a very strong local and national reputation. His work has been featured in major national media such as the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Detroit News, and hundreds of local and national television broadcasts. He was honored by his peers in 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 by being named to the Georgia Super Lawyers list and featured in Atlanta Magazine.
